Margarida De Jesus (Roque Carvalho) Arruda, age 88 of Assonet, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026 in the comforts of her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Santo Antonio Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores, and was the beloved wife of the late Serafim V. Arruda for 66 years. She was also the daughter of the late Joao Roque and the late Gertrudes (Botelho) Roque, and the mother of the late Cidalia C. Costa, and baby Maria De Lurdes Arruda.

Prior to retiring, Margarida worked for Quaker Fabric Co. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, sewing, and cooking for her family and friends, but most of all, Margarida loved spending time with her family especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Margarida is survived by her children Tony (Darlene) Arruda of Rehoboth, Maria (Fernando) Cacilhas of Freetown, John (Lucilia) Arruda of CT, Dee (John) Pereira of Westport, Margarida Paula (Nicholas) Ninatoski of PA, and Serafim (Maria Gabriella) Arruda of CT; her brother Fernando De Mello of Dartmouth; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Margarida was the sister of the late Maria De Lurdes Roque Cacilhas, Joao Carvalho, Antonio Carvalho, & Jose Carvalho.
