FALL RIVER – Maria Fagundes Aguiar, age 79, passed away on July 29, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Luis Aguiar. She also leaves behind her long-time companion Diamontino Mendes. Born in Terceira, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Fagundes) Quiteiro.

She was loved and cherished by many people including her children Jose Aguiar (wife Cassia) of E. Providence, RI, Denia Aguiar (husband Antonio Sampaio) of Ontario, Canada, Marta Borba (husband Fausto) of Ontario, Canada, John F. Aguiar of Fall River, Dilia Aguiar of Fall River, Francisco E. Aguiar (wife Helena) of E. Providence, RI, and Sonia Aguiar Frias (husband Jose) of Riverside, RI; along with Maria Alice Mendes, whom she considered as one of her children; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many siblings, nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Maria will be held on Friday, August 2nd from 8-9:30 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River. A funeral mass will follow in St. Mary's Cathedral at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
