Maria dos Anjos (Brito) Lopes, age 75 of Somerset, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024 at St. Anne's Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in São Roque, São Miguel, Açores, Maria was the wife of the late Mario Lopes, and the daughter of the late Antonio and the late Ondina (Silva) Brito. Maria was best known to everyone as "Nana Maria" for most of her life.

Prior to retiring, Maria worked at Boston University in their food service dept. Maria was an amazing baker and cook, making her home the center piece of many family holidays and gatherings. She also knitted & crocheted many items for her family and friends. Most of all, Maria loved spending time with her family and friends, especially with her grandchildren.

Maria is survived by her children Teresa Lopes of Belmont, Ma, Rui Lopes of Las Vegas, NV, and Lucia Lopes Darling of Berkley, MA; her siblings Eduardo Brito of New Hampshire, Antonio Brito and Teresa Lambert both of Taunton, Luis Brito of Dalzell, SC, the late Maria Conceicão Brito and the late Bertha De Frias;  grandchildren Sebastien Lopes, Jacob Darling, Reme Maria Lopes, El Darling, and Bailey Lopes; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.

Maria's visitation will  be held on Friday, January 3rd from 8:30-10:30 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Church. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
