Maria C. (Aguiar) DeMedeiros, age 85 of Somerset and previously of Fall River, peacefully passed away on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026 with her loving family by her side. Born in Santa Barbara Santo Antonio, Sao Miguel, Azores, Maria was the beloved wife of the late Joao A. DeMedeiros and the daughter of the late Antonio M. Aguiar and Maria Isabel (Fonseca) Aguiar.

Prior to retiring, Maria worked in the local textile mills. She was a very active parishioner of St. Michael's Church and a member of St. Michael's Holy Rosary Society. Maria spent many hours with her husband helping at the church feasts and parish fundraisers.

Maria also enjoyed her gardening, cooking for everyone, and traveling with her husband. Most of all, Maria loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

Maria was the mother of the late John A. Medeiros, and the sister of the late Antonio, Jose, John, Cesar, and Jesse Aguiar

Maria is survived by her daughters, Peg Moniz (husband Mario) of Fall River and Nelia Coutinho (husband Peter) of Fall River; brothers, Guilherme Aguiar of Somerset, and Gilberto Aguiar of Florida; grandchildren, Holly Moniz, Amanda Medeiros, Heather Biener, and Alec Coutinho; great-grandchildren, Grayson Biener, Scarlett Kuban, Raegan Biener, and Rowan Kuban; along with many nieces & nephews.

Maria's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St., Fall River on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd here at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours on Monday, Nov. 2nd from 4-6 PM.
