Maria Do
Carmo Diniz
Nov 19, 1936 — Apr 3, 2026
Fall River
FALL RIVER - It is with great sadness that we share the news of Maria do Carmo (Tavares) Diniz, age 89, who passed away on April 3, 2026 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Jacinto F. Diniz. Born in Mosteiros, São Miguel, Açores, born to the late Maria da Gloria (Botelho) Tavares and Joao Tavares.
Maria was a devoted Catholic and lifelong parishioner of St. Michael's Church and cherished the joys of church feasts and processions. She was a loving matriarch whose life was defined by faith, family, and craft. Prior to retirement, she worked as a seamstress for Santoro MFG for over 35 years, skillfully creating garments and even making her own clothes. Maria expressed her love most vividly through her cooking and baking. Her sweetbread and homemade treats were gifts she delighted in sharing with family and friends. Strong-willed, independent, and outspoken, she cherished her family above all, finding joy in the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Loved and cherished by many people including her children Lisa Desrosiers (husband Mike), Natalie Costa (husband Robert), John Diniz and step-daughter Kathleen Crofton (husband Jim); 6 grandchildren: Alissa, Rebecca, Robert, Casey, Brenda and Leslie; 2 great-grandchildren Eve and Rowan; as well as several other family members who will truly miss her.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Wednesday, April 8th here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. Michael's Church at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours on Tuesday, April 7th from 4-7 P.M.
