Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maria "Adeline" Costa of Tiverton, who passed away on December 14, 2022, at the age of 83, at Grand Islander Center in Middletown, leaving to mourn family and friends. Wife of the late Joseph J. Costa, and born in Arrifes, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina (Garracha) Ferreira. Adeline was a parishioner at St. Theresa Church. She came to the United States in 1949 at the age of 9 years old where she and her family lived on Rodman St in Fall River. She started in her young teenage years to work at the clothing mills in Fall River with her Mom. She met Joe in 1959, they were married in 1961. They soon started a family and Adeline became a passionate homemaker, wife and mother. She was the perfect example of unconditional love. Her family came first. She was an incredible cook who was always the last to sit down and the first to get up. She had a heart of gold, loved her family and friends with a loyalty that could not be shaken. Her backyard summer parties always had way too much food and were filled with so much family love. She never stopped and was an absolutely amazing hostess.

She passed away at her favorite time of year…Christmas. The thought of all the family being together made her so thankful and happy. There are no words to describe the way she would warm your heart and make you feel so special and so loved. We are so sure that she saw her journey back to her Jesus a gift from God at this time of year. We will miss her shining example of a life well lived.

She was loved and cherished by many people including her children Joseph Costa Jr and his husband Robert Pruchniewicz of Providence, Michael Costa and his wife Michelle of Tiverton, Donna Marie Costa of Tiverton and Sandra Lee Furtado and her husband Kevin of Lakeville and also her sister and best friend Mary Oliveira of Tiverton; The precious jewels in her life were her three grandchildren, Olivia Lauren Coleman (Wife of Patrick Coleman), Nicholas Costa and Tyler Joseph Jordan. They were the light of her life.

Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Monday, December 19th here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa Church in Tiverton at 10 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
