SOMERSET – Maria Theresa Fournier, age 87, passed away on January 19, 2025. She had been a resident of Americana Terrace in Somerset all of her adult life. She was the beloved wife of the late William C. Fournier. Born in Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Rego Costa) Pereira.

Maria loved spending her days at the beach, shopping, gardening, and taking long walks. She cherished quality time with her family and was a loving grandmother. Maria also had a deep affection for her many cats, especially her beloved Mr. Beans, Roofis, and Sophia.

She was loved and cherished by many people including her children: Robert Fournier and his wife Theresa Marie "Terry" (Rapoza) of CT,  Theresa Fournier and significant other Tom of Westport, Elizabeth Fournier of SC and William Fournier of Fall River; 4 grandchildren Shawna (Fournier) Almeida and her husband Torey, Sara Fournier, Jacob Stark & Wayne Stark; great-grandchild: Isla; Maria's siblings: Sue (Pereira) and husband William St. Martin Sr. of Taunton, Agnes (Pereira) and her late husband Andrew Fournier of Somerset and the late Floriano Pereira of Fall River; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the former staff of the Highland Adult Daycare in Fall River for their care and dedication during the time they spent with Maria. She truly loved her time there.
