Maria de Lurdes (Macedo) deMelo, 77 of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Born in Fajã de Baixo, São Miguel, Açores, Maria was the beloved wife of the late Jośe Luis deMelo and the daughter of the late Jośe de Couto Macedo and the late Adelide (Furtado) Macedo.

Prior to retiring, Maria worked as a machine operator for Quaker Mfg. She was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church, and loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Luis deMelo (wife Eduarda) of Fall River, Carlos deMelo of São Miguel, Açores, & Patricia Ferreira (husband Adelino) of Fall River; 3 brothers: Eduardo Macedo of New Bedford, Antonio Macedo of Fall River, & Jośe Octavio Macedo of São Miguel, Açores; 4 grandchildren: Kelly & Aaron deMelo, Priscilla (Ferreira) Costa, & Jordan Ferreira; several nieces & nephews.

Maria's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, MA. on Tuesday, March 15 ^th here at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in Santo Christo Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
