Fall River – Maria (Faria) Massa, age 81, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on May 28 ^th .  Born in Arrifes, Sao Miguel, Acores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Diamentina (Couto) Faria.

Maria and her family moved to the United States in 1976 where she began working as a seamstress. On her days off, when her children were young, her and husband would pack up their station wagon and spend the day at the beach.  Maria enjoyed singing, dancing and shopping for her grandchildren. She loved to cook and if you were family or a friend of Maria's, you would always have a full plate. She was giving, caring, thoughtful and devoted to her faith.  Most of all she was a truly loving wife, mother and grandmother and she will be deeply missed.

Maria is survived by her beloved husband and best friend of 57 years, Raul Massa; her children, Anabela Massa, Gualter Massa and his wife Susana and Maria Lisa Garcia and her husband John; as well as her grandchildren, Kathryn, Kalyn, Sydney and Zachary and her grand dog Kobe.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by her siblings, Lurdes DeLima, Floripes Resendes and Manuel Faria.

Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N Main St. Fall River on Thursday, June 2 at 9:00 AM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Santo Christo Church at 10:00 A.M.  Calling hours will be held at the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 1 ^st from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  To share a memory or offer a condolence please visit www.rogersfuneral.com
