SOMERSET – Maria C. Miranda, age 88 of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, April 8 ^th at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Santo Antonio, Alem, Capelas, São Miguel, Azores, Maria was the widow of Joao Cordeiro Miranda Jr. and the daughter of the late Abel Oliveira and the late Maria Conceicao (Gonsalves) Oliveira.

Prior to retiring, Maria worked at Quaker Fabrics as a machine operator, and she was a communicant of St. John of God Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting.  Maria was also an incredibly talented painter and her work is beautifully displayed at their home in Portugal. She also loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Maria was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her Children: Joao Evangelista O. Miranda (wife Fatima), Verissimo Able O. Miranda, Maria Dos Anjos "Angie" Borges (husband John), and Lidia C. Miranda (husband Joao Luis); siblings: Almerinda Oliveira, Lydia C. Costa, Maria Celeste Soares, Maria Inez Tavares, Antonio Oliveira and Abel D. Oliveira; her grandchildren: Joao M. Oliveira, Ricardo Borges, Cristina Miranda, Patricia Miranda, Stephanie Borges, Joao Guilherme Miranda, Stacy Oliveira and Megan Oliveira; her great grandchildren: Mara and Matilde Miranda, Xavier Oliveira, Maria Leonor Silva and Joao Dinis Silva; and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings; Laurinda Tavares and Evangelina Melo.

Maria's funeral will take place on Friday, April 14 ^th at Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River at 9:00 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John of God Church in Somerset at 10:00 A.M. Interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
