FALL RIVER – Maria Neves Ferreira, age 84 a longtime resident of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in the comforts of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Calhetas, Ribeira Grande, São Miguel, Azores, Maria was the wife of the late Manuel Tavares Ferreira and the daughter of the late Jacinto de Sousa and the late Guilhermina da Costa (Soares) de Sousa.

Prior to retiring, Maria worked as a floor lady in the textile mfg. industry. Some of her interests included crocheting, doing pin-point embroidery, and especially cooking for her beloved family.

Maria is survived by her children: Maria Pacheco (husband Emanuel) of Westport, Adriana Ferreira of Fall River, Virginia Carvalho (husband Joe) of Somerset and John Ferreira (wife Christy) of Somerset; 7 grandchildren: Vicky, Emanuel Jr., Jordan, Christopher, Bret, Amanda, & Preston; 5 great grandchildren: Nyzaia, Troy, twins Roman & Ryan, and Zion; 1 niece & 1 nephew. Maria was the sister of the late Arthur and Jose Souza.

Maria's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Saturday, July 16 ^th with visitation from 8:30-9:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in Espirito Santo Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
