Obituary

SWANSEA - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marilyn A. "MeMe" Silva, age 78, on March 31, 2025 with her loving family by her side at Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston. She leaves behind her husband of 34 years, Walter Silva. Born in Fall River, she was the devoted daughter of Hilda (Viveiros) Franco, who is turning 104 this year and the late Clinton Luzitano.

Marilyn was affectionately known as "MeMe" and "Grandma" by nearly everyone who knew her. She dedicated many years to Linjay Mfg. as a machine operator. She found joy in camping, playing bingo, visiting casinos, indulging in sweets and family clam boils. Above all, she was devoted to her family, never missing a grandchild's event, whether it was a school award ceremony or a sports game. She also took great pride in watching her son race at Seekonk Speedway and cherished spending time with her daughter, Karen, preparing food for her favorite brunches and gatherings.

Along with her husband and mother, she is survived by her children Richard W.  Hanatow Jr. (wife Debra) of N. Dighton, Karen Berge (husband Paul) of Rehoboth, Deborah McGee of Orleans, Lorrie Pierce of Somerset; step-children Shelly Wilde of Swansea and Sherri Hanatow of Plymouth; grandchildren Justin, Taylor, Kyle, Lucas, Brooke; step-grandchild Jeffrey; great-grandchild Everly; life-long friend Ruthie Furtado of Swansea and her most precious grand-dogs Bentley and Luna. She was predeceased by her brother Clinton Luzitano Jr.

Her funeral service will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Saturday, April 5th at 10 A.M. with extended calling hours from 9-10 A.M. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea. Calling hours on Friday, April 4th from 4-7 P.M.
