Obituary

Mark George Berube, age 45, of Fall River, passed away at home with his loving family by his side, on October 10, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Affectionately known to many as Markey, he was a 1994 graduate of Tiverton High School and currently attending Wentworth Institute for Construction Management. In 2011, Mark reconnected with Linda (Resendes) and her 2 children Camryn and Collin. They married in 2016 and went on to have a son, Cohen in 2019. His family was everything to him and he worked hard to provide them with a beautiful life. He was a devoted husband and father who was consistent and present in everything he did. He wanted more than anything for them to be well cared for and to simply enjoy the little things in life. He enjoyed date nights with his wife and would move mountains just to show her how much he loved and appreciated her. He loved camping, walking his dog, Koa, and spending time at sporting events, cheering on his children. He was fully immersed in all aspects of his children's lives, enrolling and participating with Collin in Boy Scouts, bringing both of his sons to the barber shop, teaching all three how to swim, dive and ride a bike and his oldest how to drive. He shared all his favorite past times with all of them and often. Mark loved watching football, basketball, boxing and martial arts, home renovation television shows especially, This Old House. He was a diehard NY Giants fan.  He loved his 89' Supra and planned on restoring it with his sons, promising Collin it was his someday. For many years, Mark worked for the family company, Berube Brother's Construction, then started his own business, MGB Construction. He learned the carpentry trade by working closely with his father and uncle, Michael Berube who were truly his best friends. Mark's unique talents and great work ethic made him loved by his customers, who treated him like family. He became a proud brother of the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Union, Local 330 (formerly 1305) and made many wonderful friends there. He was a foreman for Union Installations employed by Jay McNamara. Some of his favorite projects included building the Buddhist Temple in Raynham, putting a large addition on TD GARDEN and building a new library at Smith College in Northampton. He was also part of the Apprentice Interview Panel. He volunteered his time on the weekends helping the Wounded Warriors Project, Flags for Veterans and the Toys for Tots Program. Mark truly loved going to work each day. He tirelessly made many early morning commutes from his home to Boston and further, where he began his day climbing tall buildings. Mark took great pride in his work and loved everything construction. With the drive of each nail, with the turn of every wrench, Markey will always live on. Born in Fall River and raised in Tiverton, he was the son of Mark Berube and Cynthia (Souza) Castonguay and his stepfather, Douglas Castonguay. Along with his wife, children and parents, he was loved and cherished by many including his in-laws, Luis and Louise Resendes, his brother-in-law, Luis Resendes Jr. and the family dog, Koa. His stepsister, Nicole Maher (Castonguay) and her two children, Leila and Chace. He also leaves behind a very large family and was blessed with many aunts, uncles and cousins who were more like siblings to him. His childhood friends who were like sisters: Renee Gonsalves (Lafleur), Sheri Oliveira (Lafleur) and Jenna Lafleur always had a special place in his heart. We have no doubt that he was greeted in heaven by his maternal grandparents, George and Dorothy (Rezendes) Souza and paternal grandparents George and Anna (Funk) Berube who all played a special role in raising him. Mark's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the medical staff that were involved with his care over the last year and half. We will be forever grateful for the wonderful, compassionate care he received from both Dana-Farber, MGH Brigham and Women's hospital and the Hospice team. They would also like to thank all their family, friends and neighbors for all of their love, support and prayers. A Visitation for Mark will be held on Monday, October 17 th from 8:30-10:30 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River.
