FALL RIVER - Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to Mary C. (Esmeraldo) Coelho, age 91, who passed at Charlton Memorial Hospital on April 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late Arsenio V. Coelho and daughter of the late João Esmeraldo and Mary (Cambra) Simmons.

Mary dedicated many years of her life working as a seamstress at Sagamore Mfg. A devoted member of both St. Michael's and St. Joseph's Parishes, she was deeply rooted in her faith and community. Mary had a passion for cooking, singing, and country music—and she never missed a chance for a good conversation. A true people person, she brought warmth and joy wherever she went.

Her love for gardening was evident in the vibrant, well-tended yard she maintained from spring through fall. Neighbors often admired the beauty of her flowers, and she was known to share the fruits of her labor—literally—by hanging bags of fresh fruit from her trees on the fence for others to enjoy.

Above all, Mary cherished time with her family. Outings with her sisters brought her so much joy, but her greatest happiness came from being with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She was loved and cherished by many people including her children Manuel Coelho (wife Alicia), John Coelho and Mary Leboeuf (husband David), all of Fall River; siblings Albina Maynard, Patricia Phinney and the late Virginia Richmond, Manuel Esmeraldo, Madeline Proulx, John Esmeraldo, Cecelia Pimental and Connie Bombardier; 4 grandchildren Adam, Caitlyn, Selina and Michaela; many nieces and nephews.

Mary's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Friday, April 11th here at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Church at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours on Thursday, April 10th from 4-7 PM.
