Merces "Macy" Moniz, age 89 of Swansea, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024 at Catholic Memorial Home with her loving family by her side and on her 89th birthday. Macy was the beloved wife of the late Frank Moniz and the daughter of the late Joseph & Merces (Martin) Andrade.

Prior to retiring, Macy worked as a Clothing Designer in the Textile industry. During her retirement, Macy worked at the Swansea Senior Center for 16 years, finally retiring again at the age of 83. Macy was very active in St. John of God Church, and was a member of the Church's Ladies Auxiliary group. She also made & donated the baptismal bibs for the church for over 25 years.

In her leisure time, Macy enjoyed bowling & bocce, and was a member of the Somerset & Swansea leagues. She loved going on day trips with her besties, Lorraine Sawejko, Irene Andrade, Olive Rego, and the late Delores Nicolau. Macy was also an avid animal lover. Most of all, Macy loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Macy was the mother of  Julie Bonanca (husband John), and Jane Moniz all of Swansea, the late Christopher Moniz, and the late Frank Moniz; sister of the late James, Joseph, and Dennis Andrade; sister-in-law of Irene Andrade; grandmother of Jordan & Jasmine Bonanca, Timothy & Joshua Tobin, Kelsey, Christopher, & Christionna Moniz; great grandmother of Jacoby, Jett, & Jayla Bonanca; the aunt to several nieces & nephews.

Macy's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Nurses, CNA's, and Staff on Floor 3 of Catholic Memorial Home, for their attentive & loving care they gave Macy.

Macy's visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024 from 8:30-9:30 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River with a Funeral Mass to follow at St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave, Somerset at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Vinnicum Woods Cemetery, Swansea.
