Michael
Oliveira
Oct 3, 1951 — Apr 16, 2024
DIGHTON - Michael Oliveira of Dighton passed away after a short illness on April 16, 2024. Mike was the beloved father and father-in-law of David J. and Kate Oliveira of Atlanta and the always fun and loving Grandfather Vavoo of Mack (6) and Milly (4) Oliveira.
Mike was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on October 3, 1951, the son of the late John and Alice Oliveira. He grew up in Somerset, but he called Dighton his home over these past 30 years. Mike's two brothers, John P. Oliveira, Jr. and David Oliveira, also predeceased him. He is survived by many cousins and family members with whom he shared much love and memorable times. Mike took great care of his mother and was the epitome of a devoted son.
After receiving his college degrees, Mike spent most of his career in Business Systems Design and Development at Staples, where he was affectionately known as "the Mayor of Staples." He knew almost everyone by name, and everyone called him their friend. In retirement, he served as the volunteer director for the Cape Cod Marathon.
In his son, David's, early elementary school years, Mike was the first (and only!) "room father" for David's class, and David's friends through all the years considered Mike a second dad. They called him "Pops." Mike became an enthusiastic fan of the Clemson Tigers following David's college years there.
Mike enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and his many friends, and he made a host of lifetime memories for Mack and Milly. He will be remembered as a loving, thoughtful person, who put others first. And he was always the life of the party!
Mike trusted in Christ for his eternal life, and he kept the faith through all his joys and sorrows. A funeral Mass will be held for him at St. Joseph's Church on Saturday, April 20 at 10:30 A.M. Please go directly to the Church. Manuel Rogers Funeral Home at 1521 N Main St. Fall River, will host a memorial visitation for family and friends on Friday, April 19th from 4:00 to 6:00P.M. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice. To share a memory or offer a condolence, please sign the guestbook below.
