Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy A. Buchanan (Barboza). She peacefully departed on February 18, 2024, at the age of 71, in the manner she desired, embraced by the presence of her affectionate family. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Anibal and Maria (Carvalho) Barboza.

Prior to her retirement, Nancy dedicated many years of service as a para-professional at Spencer Borden School and contributed to the Durfee Summer Program. She held a strong Catholic faith, being a devoted parishioner at Our Lady of Health until its closure, where she then joined the St. Peter and Paul parish and later St. Joseph's. Additionally, she was an active member of the Holy Ghost Society of Westport. Nancy cherished church trips, family travels, and casino outings. Above all, her greatest joy came from being in the company of her family and friends, particularly her grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as "Gee" and "Gram."

She was loved and cherished by many people including her children Jason Buchanan (wife Amy) of Warwick and Amie L'Etoile (husband Andrew) of Fairhaven; grandchildren Emily Buchanan, Damon Buchanan and Andrew L'Etoile Jr.; sister Linda Benevides (husband James) of Kansas; nieces Hollie Noordermeer (husband Henk) and Amanda Clark (husband Tom); nephew Jonathan Benevides (wife Allison); as well as several great-nieces, nephews and other family members, who will sadly miss her.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven at 10 A.M. on Thursday, February 22nd. Reception to follow immediately after Mass. Cremation to follow with a burial at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, Fall River.
