Olga
Mccarthy
Oct 18, 1925 — Jun 22, 2024
Fall River
Olga was born October 18th, 1925 in the Flint section of Fall River from Lebanese immigrant parents George and Hind Rishmany, the youngest of five sisters, Josephine, Dale, Sally, and Vickie. Attended Durfee high school leaving at 16 years old to care for her mother. Worked at the Shelburne shirt factory, supported WWII vets as a junior hostess, and embraced her life as a first generation American. She took her sweet time finding the love of her life, Wendell McCarthy, in 1957. They married and settled in Fall River, and had two sons, Kevin and Brian. She leaves behind her daughters-in-law Connie and Kim, five grandchildren, Kevin and his wife Michelle, Kaitlin and her husband Travis, Casey and her partner Corey, Jack and his partner Elizabeth, Jake, and five great grandchildren, Ben, Damion, Max, Madison and bun in the oven Morgan.
She was a traditional housewife and mother, and thus welcomed the roles of maid, cook, accountant, referee, and teacher.
She is now back with her husband Wendell who has been checking his watch for 15 years (better late than never) and joining her sisters and friends for a loud and joyful "Hafli" in heaven.
She was a living example of positivity, never complained, and always put the needs of others ahead of her own.
She possessed great wit and wisdom, was kind and caring, meek yet determined, traditional yet accepting, ordinary yet extraordinary. She lived a seemingly typical American story to the casual observer, yet it was truly exceptional to those who knew and loved her.
She will be greatly missed, but her incredible loving spirit will live on in our hearts.
