Olive
Rego
Jan 29, 1922 — Jan 2, 2026
FALL RIVER - In loving memory, we honor the life of Olive Rego, age 103, passed away on January 2, 2025, only 27 days from turning 104. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Rego. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Antonia (Rego) Rita.
She will be deeply missed by the many parishioners whose lives she touched at St. John of God Church, where she was a faithful and longtime parishioner. She served with devotion as a Eucharistic Minister and was honored with the Marian Medal for her commitment to her faith. She was actively involved in parish life and church events, lovingly known as the "ticket lady." She was also a devoted member of the St. Jude Novena, where she faithfully assisted Fr. Raul Lagoa from its very beginning.
Blessed with many gifts, she shared her talents generously, especially through her baking. She was well known for her wedding and birthday cakes, and most fondly remembered for her raisin squares, which she lovingly prepared for family and friends. She retired after 16 years as a sewing machine operator at Fall River Har-Lee Manufacturing, following more than 30 years of dedicated service at Stella Ann Frocks Manufacturing.
Olive was loved and cherished by many people including her niece Joanne Sandner who along with her husband John were Olive's caregivers; their daughter Chelsea Sandner; niece Stephanie Marcellino and her husband Richard Bardan and son Caleb Nascimento; her late siblings Elizabeth Ferreira, Manuel and Edward Rita; as well as several other nieces, nephews, family members and friends, including Tony, Beverly, Betty, Dawn, Fernanda and Michelle who will sadly miss her.
Her family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all of the staff of the Catholic Memorial Home, including the nurses and aides of Unit 3, especially Maria, Suzie and Isabel, who cared for Olive with gentleness and love during her time spent there.
A visitation for Olive will be held on Friday, January 9th from 8-9:15 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River. A funeral mass will follow in St. John of God Church, Somerset at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Somerset.
