SWANSEA – Raymond E. Souza, age 84 of Swansea, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022 in the comforts of his home. Born in Somerset to the late Antone E. & the late Lena (DeCosta) Souza. Ray was the husband of the late Dolores J. Souza, and the longtime companion to Patricia Hays of Swansea.

Ray was a retired heavy equipment operator and a proud member of the IUOE Local 4. He was a US Army Veteran, and a communicant of St. John of God Church. Ray loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his beloved companion Pat, Ray is survived by his daughter, Kathleen D. Simao (husband Joseph) of Somerset; his brother, Gary E. Souza; 5 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and nieces & nephews. Ray was predeceased by his son, Donald R. Robert; and his siblings, Charlotte E. Souza Sapp, John E. Souza, Edward E. Souza, & Antone E. Souza Jr..

Ray's funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John of God Church, at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset.
