Richard "Richie"
L. Oliver
Feb 2, 1941 — Apr 28, 2025
Assonet
Richard "Richie" L. Oliver, age 84 of Assonet, passed away on April 28, 2025 at his home. He was the husband of the late Nancy L. (Ferreira) Oliver and the son of the late John Oliver and the late Mary C. (Netto) Oliver.
Prior to retiring, Richie worked for the Diocese of Fall River at St. Patrick's Cemetery as the Superintendent for well over 30 years. Richie was a skilled carpenter and a jack of all trades, there was nothing he couldn't fix or build. He was the type of person that would help anyone in need.
Some of Richie's interests were boating with his wife Nancy and flying his giant kites all over, especially at Newport. He was a very talented trumpet player, and also an avid NY Yankees fan, in which he received a lot of razzing for.
Richie is survived by his two sisters, Marie J. Oliver of Fall River and Ann Oliver-Lopes (husband Jim) of Sun City, FL; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Richie was also the brother of the late John Oliver Jr., James Oliver, and Deborah Arruda. Richie was also predeceased by his dogs Dusty & Heidi who were like his children.
Richie's cremation services are under the direction of the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, Fall River, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richie's memory can be made by mail to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org.
