WARREN… Richard J. Lopes, age 84, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Grace Barker Nursing Center in Warren, RI.

Born in Fall River, MA, Richard was son of the late Joseph and Philomena (Borges) Lopes. He was predeceased by his wife, Christina (Ferreira) Lopes who passed away in 1998. Richard was the beloved companion of 24 years to Shirley Alves of Warren, RI.

Richard was proud of his long career as a custodian at Brown University. He was well known for his wonderful sense of humor and ease with which he could tell a joke. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and always maintained a love of travelling. Richard was also an avid pool player and got together every week with friends to play. Most of all, Richard cherished time spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his companion Shirley, survivors include: daughters, Brenda Martin (and the late husband Michael) of Fall River, MA and Tracy St. Pierre (and husband Jasen) of Swansea, MA; brother, James "Hank" Lopes (and wife Dolores) of Fall River, MA; grandchildren, Shannon Rego, Addison Lopes, and Lauren St. Pierre; great-grandchildren, Aubree, Bryant, Kora, a great-grandson AJ on the way, and several nieces & nephews. Richard was predeceased by his siblings, the late Edward Lopes, Louis "Roy" Lopes, and Elsie Cabral.

Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held at Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Saturday, December 14, 2024, beginning with visitation from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Michael's Church in Fall River. Interment will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River.
