Obituary

Robert A. Dumas JR. BNS, RN of Boston, MA. Passed away at the young age of 30 on May 6, 2023. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts he was the devoted son of Jacqueline (Ferreira) Steinert and David C. Steinert of Somerset, MA and the late Robert A. Dumas.

To say that Robbie was an exceptional young man is an understatement. He was born with Chronic Granulomatous Disease, a lifelong illness which resulted in frequent infections requiring many hospitalizations. Despite this, he never complained, always remained upbeat and brought joy to his family and friends, especially his mother, Jackie. He used his own life experiences to help others with illnesses and he worked hard to make their lives better. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, colleagues and patients.

At a very young age Robbie's dream was to become a Nurse. He graduated from Somerset High School, was a member of the Tennis and Track teams, TV Video Communication club and played guitar. Rob earned an Associated Degree at Bristol Community College in General Studies, and a BSN, RN at Bay State College in Boston, MA and graduated as 2014 Nursing Programs Class President.

Rob worked at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose MA., his home away from home. He was genuinely passionate about his profession and in a short time exceled in his career as a Hospital Supervisor at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Rob was not only a team player but, a silent leader, an extraordinary problem solver he was up to any challenge and faced obstacles with a "we got this attitude".  Effortlessly Rob would jump in where needed. He supported new nursing grads, put them under his wing while cheering them on in their new role as a healthcare giver. Anything about science intrigued him, nursing was Robs true calling. Rob was a gentle old soul, a kind human with an empathic ear with a strong desire to help anyone in need.

Outside of work Rob enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Rob loved his life living in Boston yet kept close ties to hometown of Somerset, MA. He continued to plan group gatherings, concerts and yearly Firefly Music Festival excursions with his loyal friends in Somerset; Rhett, Alex, Kate, Jeremey and Sam. Rob also enjoyed visiting his dear friend Cory in N.H., along with many road trips to Pennsylvania. He was an avid video gamer, loved reading, music, theater, traveling, barbequing, camping and weekend getaways & shopping with his soulmate Talia & their dog, Bentley.

Rob was a brother to Beth-Ann Donovan, brother-in-law to John Farley and uncle to Madilyn & Jack Farley of Fall River. In addition, he leaves soulmate Talia Silverstone, his Aunts and Uncles Deborah Albro, Arthur Ferreira Jr, Judith Duffy, Chris & David Vargas, Cathy & Charles Paulson and many cousins. Besides his father Robert A. Dumas, he was preceded in death by; his grandparents Richard and Dorothy Dumas, Arthur Ferreira and Lorraine (Ferreira) Holewiak and Donald and Joan Steinert.
