Robert J. Rezendes Sr., age 85 of Somerset, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. Robert was the beloved husband of 63 years to Linda (Souza) Rezendes and the son of the late John Dennis Rezendes and the late Irene (Velozo) Rezendes.

Robert's career began as a long-haul truck driver, which later led him to start his own independent trucking business known as R.J. Rezendes Trucking. He then went on to drive for K.R. Rezendes Inc. construction company for over 20 years before retiring. Robert was also a member of the Teamsters Union Local 251 for more than 20 years.

Robert found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether tending to his garden, working the land, or cruising down country roads on his motorcycle. He especially lit up when singing Karaoke, sharing his voice and laughter with anyone lucky enough to be nearby. His love for storytelling often came through in those moments, as he brought songs to life and memories to the surface. Above all, Robert cherished time spent with his family. He was never happier than when surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, swapping stories, sharing meals, and creating the kind of memories that will be retold for generations.

In addition to his wife Linda, Robert is survived by his 7 Children: Cheryl Greene of Dartmouth, Laurie Sears (Jody Maltais) of Dartmouth, Sheila Farias (David Farias) of Somerset, Robert J. Rezendes Jr. of Somerset, Donna Gray (Darrell Gray) of Rehoboth, Christine Marum (Michael Marum) of Somerset, and Lisa St. Marie (Mark Katrick) of Suffield, CT; Siblings: Elaine Dube of Somerset, and the late Ronald J. Rezendes; 16 Grandchildren: Timothy Greene, Kevin Greene, Catherine Sears, Robert Sears Jr., Amy Da Cunha, Krystal Smith, Kelli Fuhrman, Daniel Farias, Zachary Rezendes, Jacob Rezendes, Tanner Gray, Cameron Gray, Russell Marum, Michaela Marum, Nathan Marum, and William St. Marie Jr.; 17 Great Grandchildren: Banks, Easton, Dawson, Brayden, Baby Da Cunha, Lilia, Oliver, Willow, Declan, Evan, Mia, Enzo, Ava, Amelia, Kinsley, Gabrielli, and Jordyn; several nieces & nephews.

A funeral for Robert will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Tuesday, April 14th here at 8:45 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave., Somerset at 10:00 AM.
