Obituary

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sandra Lee Furtado, age 49, of Lakeville, MA. After a long courageous battle with cancer, when the best doctors in the world told her that the war was over and that there was nothing left to do, our Sandy chose to return home with her beloved spouse, soulmate and best friend, Kevin.  Sandy passed away … peacefully… on March 17.

As she wished, Sandy was embraced by the warmth of her wood burning stove, the innocent warm furry love that only Hank and George, her two English bulldogs could give her and the love, help and support of the "sea of people" who she touched in this life and loved her so very much. She especially wanted to be home, side by side, with her husband of 27 years where they shared their beautiful life together. They are a rare couple who truly love each other for who they are and like two best buddies, shared adventure after adventure together.

Sandy was born in Fall River in 1973. She was the youngest child of the late Joseph and Maria " Adeline " (Ferreira) Costa. Born a few months after moving into their new house in Tiverton—Sandy was the most beautiful little baby and was the light that made their new house a home.

Sandy worked for Jordan's Furniture as a Shipping Coordinator for 16 years where she had an extended family who loved her and supported her as much as any true family would…Sandy brought that out in all of us. She gave so much, you could not help but trust her and give it right back.

Along with her husband, Kevin, Sandy was loved and cherished by so many people including her siblings Joey Costa Jr. (husband Bob Pruchniewicz) of Providence, Michael Costa (wife Michelle) of Tiverton and Donna Marie Costa of Tiverton; and father & mother-in-law Edward & Madeline Furtado; Brother in-law Kenneth Furtado, and sisters-in-law Lori Holding and Lisa Alves (husband Scott); nieces and nephews Olivia Coleman (husband Patrick), Nicholas Costa, Tyler Jordan, Amanda Luchka (husband Brian), Allyson Holding, Kenneth Furtado and Kristyn Estrela (husband Aaron); great-nephews Cameron Estrela and Weylan Luchka; as well as all the other family and friends who will sadly miss her bright light so much.

Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Friday, March 24 th at 8:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. Theresa's Church at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours on Thursday, March 23 rd from 4-8 P.M.
