Serafim V. Arruda, age 91 of Fall River, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Santo Antonio Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores, and was the beloved husband of Margarida (Carvalho) Arruda for 66 years. He was also the son of the late Edmundo & Maria dos Santos (Amaral) Arruda, and the father of the late Cidalia C. Costa, and baby Maria De Lurdes Arruda.

While living in the Açores, Serafim worked as a wicker furniture maker. After emigrating to America he worked as a custodian for several years and eventually retired from Quaker Textile Mfg. where he was a material handler. In his retirement, Serafim enjoyed the simple things of life like making his wine to share with family and friends and also making wicker furniture for family members. He enjoyed vacationing with his family and just spending time with them.

In addition to his wife Margarida, Serafim is survived by his children Tony (Darlene) Arruda of Rehoboth, Maria (Fernando) Cacilhas of Freetown, John (Lucilia) Arruda of CT, Dee (John) Pereira of Westport, Margarida Paula (Nicholas) Ninatoski of PA, and Serafim (Maria Gabriella) Arruda of CT; his sister Maria da Conceicao Frias of SC; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Serafim was also predeceased by several of his additional siblings.
