Shawn A. Viera, age 62 of Fall River, peacefully passed away on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. Shawn fought an 8-year courageous battle with lung cancer. Shawn lived in Kearny, NJ before moving to MA in 1978, and was the daughter of Kathleen J. (Kenney) Fottler of Taunton and the late Robert G. Fottler. Shawn also leaves behind her partner of 17 yrs. and best friend Steven Farland, and her dog Gidget.

Shawn had worked as a drug counselor for several years. She loved to go crabbing with her uncle Steven & Uncle Michael on the Stinky Clam. She loved to go to yard sales & thrift shops with her friends & family. Her favorite movies were scary or horror movies. She loved to watch forensic files & snapped on ID discovery. She enjoyed cooking meals for her family and for family cookouts.

Shawn loved to go every year to the St. Patrick's Day parade in Newport and going to the Hibernia to listen to the bag pipers play. She was a sun worshipper & loved to go to the beach with Roberta & Steven.

In addition to her mother Kathleen and partner Steven, Shawn is survived by her children: Jennifer Viera of Fall River, Richard Viera & Joseph Viera both of Taunton, & Kyle Demers of New Bedford; her siblings: Jeffrey Fottler of Kearny, NJ, Robin Riker of Taunton, the late Elizabeth Brown, Jennifer Beaulieu, and Kathleen Castle both of Taunton; grandchildren: Joseph Viera, Avarie Viera, and the late Esmae Demers; many nieces & nephews: Joshua Brown, Justin Riker, Sarah Riker, Jessica Fottler, Robert Fottler, Anthony Wetmore, Emily Castle, Alex Beaulieu, Julie Beaulieu, Katy Thomas, and Claire Castle; many cousins, aunts, and uncles that she cherished. Family was very important to her.

Following cremation, Shawn's visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a service to conclude at 1:00 PM in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River.
