Teodora M.
Pereira
Apr 25, 1934 — Jan 24, 2022
SOMERSET – Teodora M. (Carvalho Raposo) Pereira, age 87, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2022 at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Santo António, Alem Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Jose Carvalho and Maria Lourdes (Sousa Aguiar) Raposo.
After becoming a teacher, she emigrated to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1952 where she met her beloved husband of 56 years, Alvaro Pereira. It was a true love story which began when he told her that she would be his wife upon their first meeting at a christening. They married and had their sons, Alvaro and Evaristo.
The family moved to the United States where she continued her gift for teaching at the Doran School in Fall River for 26 years. She lived a full life as a wonderful mother, beloved grandmother and teacher, and intrepid gardener. Teodora was a devout servant of the Catholic Church at St. Michael's Parish in Fall River and St. Dominic's Church in Swansea. She touched countless lives during her 87 years. Most of all, she adored her family and instilled in them strong values that will serve them all of their days. She will be dearly missed by all.
Teodora was a devoted mother to her sons Alvaro E. Pereira (wife Eileen) of Swansea and Evaristo J. Pereira (wife Delia) of Fall River; sister to Evaristo Carvalho of Brazil; proud grandmother to 6 grandchildren Marcos, Alexis, Juliana, Rafael, Miguel, Gabriela and 1 great-grandchild, Liliana. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and predeceased by her sister Marcia St. Auburn.
We thank Michael and Bethany, as well the rest of the staff of Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River, for their care and empathy in our time of sadness. Donations may be made in memory of Teodora to the American Stroke Association or to the Catholic Charities. Please send the family your favorite memories of Teodora, or expressions of sympathy to www.rogersfuneral.com
