Theresa V Mendes

FAIRHAVEN - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Theresa V. Mendes, age 100, who passed peacefully on August 5, 2026. She was the beloved wife to the late Everette F. Mendes. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter to the late Manuel N. Oliveira and Mary S. (Sousa) Oliveira.

She began her career as a teller at St. Michael's Credit Union, where her dedication, integrity, and strong work ethic led to a distinguished career. She retired as the Assistant Manager and Chief Loan Officer, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and members alike.

A 1943 graduate of Durfee High School, she was honored as the class Valedictorian, a reflection of her lifelong commitment to learning and excellence. An avid reader, she found joy in books, working crossword puzzles, tending to her beautiful gardens, and surrounding herself with flowers. She especially treasured spending time at the beach with friends, traveling to new places, and creating lasting memories with those she loved. Her kindness, intelligence, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She survived by her children: Richard Mendes and Janice M. Mendes of Mashpee; her late sister Cecilia C. Oliveira.

Private funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River.
