SOMERSET – Thomas A. Souza, age 76, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, surrounded by his family, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Tom, the devoted husband of Cynthia (Dufresne) Souza for 52 years, shared an extraordinary bond built on friendship, respect, and unwavering love.  He and Cynthia were inseparable, enjoying scenic rides with their dog, Wilson, and quiet moments by the boat ramp.

Born to the late Arthur and Ivy (Rogers) Souza, Tom carried a warm, kind, and generous spirit throughout his life.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, demonstrating his strong sense of duty and commitment.

Prior to retirement, Tom worked for the City of Fall River Sanitation Department, known for his strong work ethic and dedication.  He enjoyed fishing with friends, finding peace on the water.  He found joy in watching his grandson, David, build homes and take on new challenges, a bond that meant the world to him.

Known for his quick wit and ability to make everyone smile, Tom's infectious personality filled every room with laughter.  He cherished his seven grandchildren, whose love and laughter brought him immense joy.  He was a father who was always present, whether cheering on his children at sporting events or watching with pride as his grandchildren carried on the tradition of athletics.

Tom's legacy is one of love, laughter, and meaningful connections.  His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, of Somerset, MA; daughters Karen Wood (Husband David Wood) of Freetown, MA, Kerrie Souza of Fall River, MA, and Kelly Souza-Knapp (Husband Brian Knapp) of Athol, MA; siblings Joanne Roberts of New Bedford, MA and his late brother, Robert Souza of Florida; and seven grandchildren: David and Joshua Turner, Aidan Wood, Hailey and Thomas Kennedy, Mackenzie Souza, and Cooper Satkevich; nieces, nephews, and many loving family members and friends.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Mass General Hospital who took exceptional care of our father in his final days of life.

Following cremation, a visitation for Thomas will take place on Monday, Jan. 13th from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM with a service to immediately follow at 12 noon at the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N.
