TIVERTON- The world lost a bright light with the passing of William J. Oliveira, age 89, who passed on May 23, 2026, at St. Annes Hospital. He was the beloved husband to Irene M. (Silvia) Oliveira with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. He was a dedicated father to his children Sylvia and William. He was born in Fall River, Ma, and was the son to the late Joseph and Rose (Furtado) Oliveira.

William proudly served in the US Army from 1960-1962 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

He had many occupations throughout his life, including working at Raytheon as a supervisor in North Dighton Ma, helping manufacture military electronics. His favorite job, however, was working as a machinist at Durfee Bowling Lanes, which he helped build.

William had a natural talent for electronics, plumbing, automobile mechanics, woodworking, carpentry, etc.. He especially enjoyed using these talents to design and make improvements to his house, and to help his family. William was a dedicated family man who made many sacrifices for his loved ones including working multiple jobs.

William is survived by his children: daughter Sylvia of Portsmouth, RI, son William Jr. of Cyprus, their spouses, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Delores Medeiros, Eileen Medeiros, Robert Oliveira and Joseph Oliveira.

Following cremation, a memorial visitation for William will be held on Friday, June 12th, 2026, from 9 – 10:15 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River Ma. A memorial Mass will follow at Holy Ghost Church 316 Judson Street in Tiverton, RI at 11:00 A.M.
