NIANTIC, CT – William Silvia (Bill), age 82 of Niantic, CT and formerly of Norwich, CT passed away on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, New London, CT, due to an ongoing heart condition. Born & raised in Somerset, William was the beloved husband of the late Barbara E. (Matthews) Silvia, the son of the late Manuel & Evangelina (Cardoza) Silvia, and the brother of Mary Connie Ferreira, and the late Margaret Paulette Salva.

William was a U.S. Air Force Veteran  and a Retired Fire Captain for the Norwich Fire Dept. He was a devoted Catholic and prayed often. Some of William's interests include cooking, kayaking, hiking, reading, listening to music, traveling, and eating Portuguese food. Most of all, William loved gathering & spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

Those who knew Bill, always found him to be charming, engaging, and a captivated listener. He always showed a genuine interest in anyone he would meet and talk to. Bill had a way of making anyone feel comfortable and special. His charm and wisdom will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his children; William Silvia Jr. (Sam), Anthony J. Silvia, Manuel J. Silvia, Keith A. Silvia, and the late Jon C. Silvia, step children; Roy A. Sewart, Bradford J. Sewart, and Kathleen E. Durbin, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces & nephews.

William's visitation will take place in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Thursday, Oct. 27 ^th from 8:30-10:00 A.M. followed by a funeral service to follow at 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
